Welcome to the St Josephs Healthy Eaters Anonymous (SJHHEA) page !

Below is a tentative schedule for the five sessions (check your email to see which group you are in):

Please note:

  1. All classes are on Wednesdays from 12:00-1:00.
  2. You are welcome to bring your lunch with you to eat
  3. Please bring a pen and papter to take notes.

Please note that because this diet is highly effective it can actually sometimes reverse conditions such as high blood pressure and diabetes making it very important for people with these conditions who are on medications to notify their physician who can then adjust the doses of their medications.  If this is not done there will be a risk of complications due to low blood pressure (eg fainting) or blood sugars (weakness).

  5. One of the keys to implementing a plant-based diet is preparing in advance.  However, time is often short. Denise Massie (a local holistic nutritionist) has an excellent booklet on ‘Prep Ahead Plant-based Meals’ that she will give you if you ask (see ‘sign up here’ on the right hand side of her home page here).  Her newsletter comes out very rarely, and can be cancelled at any time.
  6. A couple of people had questions about decreasing gas & bloating with beans / lentils / legumes – see here  for some suggestions.

Subhas Ganguli

Dr Subhas Ganguli is a Canadian gastroenterologist with an interest in the role of food in the prevention of disease. In November 2019 he passed the Board Exam of the American College of Lifestyle Medicine.
